Dead Toys for Sick Children

Dead Toys for Sick Children, new ceramic works by P.Y. Simpson

P.Y.'s latest creations include some well-known toys with a twist.
Dead Toys for Sick Children will debut November 8, 2008, 6 - 9 pm, during Second Saturday at Phoenix Gallery in Sacramento CA.
The Dead Toys are (from left to right): Deadnik Troll, VooDoo Dolly, Goodbye Kitty, Gum-bye, Pok-eye, Mickey Muerte, Dead Meanie, and Where the Dead Things Are

P.Y.'s thoughts on the Dead Toys: "After half a year of being artistically blocked, this collection came to me one day. The title pieces and subjects came to me in a rush of inspiration: Dead Toys for Sick Children. The meaning of these subjects only become clear afterwards and I must say if someone were to ask me what they were about I would have to say they represent remnants from my youth, and the decay that comes with age. I still embrace my Dead Toys."

P.Y. is also showing some additional new works, this bust "Maybe I'm Amazed" is one of them:

Starting to Post Some Samples

It's about time! A few weeks ago, P.Y. gave me a couple of CDs with photos of his sculptures and I'm finally working on getting some ready to upload and post. Eventually this will be his job, but I have to show him the ropes first.

"Screwed" - ceramic with nuts & bolts (he used a crackle glaze, which I think is high fire - I'm not a ceramicist, so please forgive my ignorance).
The first photo shows the sculpture unglazed and before bisque firing, the second photo shows the final piece.
